St Mary’s Cathedral College Annual Music Concert
Celebrating 200 Years

Sydney, June 28, 2024 — Sydney Town Hall came alive with talent and celebration on Friday night as it hosted St Mary’s Cathedral College’s Bicentenary Annual Music Concert. Aptly titled “Celebrating 200 Years,” the event honoured two centuries of the college’s rich legacy, seamlessly blending tradition, education, and remarkable musical performances into an unforgettable evening.

From the first note, the audience was captivated by the talent and passion of the performers. Students, alumni, and faculty showcased their skills in a diverse program that included classical symphonies, contemporary pieces, jazz ensembles, and choral performances.

Events of this caliber are the result of tremendous dedication and effort behind the scenes. It takes countless hours of commitment from both staff and students to create such an outstanding showcase.

Special thanks and congratulations go to Ms. Alison Hunter, the Concert Director and Leader of Learning Music at St. Mary’s. She has been the driving force behind this year’s theme, “Celebrating 200 Years,” and has worked tirelessly to bring the concert to life.

Gratitude is also extended to our extraordinary music staff: Dr. Stefan Roberts, Instructional Leader of Music in our Middle School; Dr. Evan Hopkins; and Mr. Mark Brown. These remarkable teachers, supported by our talented music tutors, have led countless rehearsals and inspired the outstanding performances witnessed tonight.

A special acknowledgement goes to Mr. Daniel Justin, the Director of Music at the Cathedral, for his support and guidance of the Cathedral choir and his direction of our massed choir.

With over 20 college bands and ensembles, more than 300 young men receiving music tuition, and our world-class St. Mary’s Cathedral Choir, music is woven into the very fabric of this college.

For 200 years, St Mary’s Cathedral College has stood as a beacon of educational and musical excellence. This milestone, highlighted by our theme of “Celebrating 200 Years,” reflects the rich history and tradition of our school.
